Texas Rollergirls - 6-July-2008 : This was my first flat track experience. The Texas Rollergirls Hell Marys beat the Northwest Arkansas (NWA) Rollergirls 129 to 77. While alternating halves with the The Hotrod Honeys against the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers. The Honeys won 76 to 40 advancing them to the finals. The flat track game is very different than the banked version in Austin. 2 minute jams were the first thing I noticed, no fighting except for the end, and penalties were served while the jam was going. For the first half I sat between to Moko Loco from TXRD, Lady Stardust and Fender Bender. Moko gave me some insight from her the differences too from her flat track experiece and Lady Stardust answered a few questions while keeping her eyes on the bout. Photographing this was a bit different than the banked league. No railings to block the view, but the horrible florescent lights made me pull out the flash. You would need a new Nikon or a Canon 1Ds to shoot this without the flash.

2008 Austin ATT Crit : The 2008 AT&T Austin down town criterium. The is the first time could make it to the down town crit. I got there after the men's cat 1, 2, 3 race was in progress and didn't get many good shots. I got great shots of the women's pro race but then it got too dark to get good shots of the men's pro race. It was hard to shoot around so many people. I'm glad the race had such a good turnout though. The wooosh of the peloton going by was intense. I have more pictures that I didn't post and many of these are cropped as used the wide angle for most of this race.

I can re-crop the photo if you are in the background and they will still look great, The running portion of the event was early and I just got off of my bike in time to photographing so these pictures are not as clear as I would have liked. I looked these over and some participants will look alright so you will want to crop many of these. Look at the large version of the picture before you buy. Mouse over the picture then select large. The later parts of the ride came out much better.
